Bought some Valentine’s Day candy. Guess I shouldn’t go shopping before dinner. Got some cheap stuff. Some good, some ok. the worst? Cinnamon Jelly Hearts. Do they taste bad? Nope. Not at all. They taste pretty good though not really as cinnamony as I’d hoped. BUT they are addictive. Sort of like cherry-cinnamon heart shaped gummy-candy. I finished the whole 10oz bag MUCH too quickly.
Ouch!

Kill Bill – Part I – It’s been sitting on my shelf since it came out on DVD.
Kind of gory and graphic but good (if you can take the gore).
Kill Bill – Part II – Got that one when it came out also… not as gory… the best movie(s) I’ve seen Uma Therman in. The ending was almost surprising… at least what happened with/to Bill at the end.

The Prologue to my new B/W crossover fic “The Summoned” is now done. Found in the usual places (here, Ikoly, Tth. I’m thinking of posting it to ff.net also this time… just to see what happens feedback-wise with the non-Spikeness of it. Or is that not playing nice?

Okay… where did they dig up that actress for their judges panel? She seems kind of out of place.

Even though there are mountains on this side of Tennessee we don’t get a whole lot of snow ‘in the valley’. Usually freezing rain. But it’s snowing right now… powdery stuff… my car is coated with it… and there was thunder a few minutes ago.
It was over quickly.
Addendum: Looks like the Northeast got plastered though… T didn’t get the b-day present I sent her because the Post Office freaked about the snow… and neither one of them can get to the PO during the week to get the mail… Guess I’ll use UPS next time…

I have the first half or so of the prologue to my next fic Summoned mostly done. Just can’t figure out the next part. The part I finished was easy. I’m tempted to save it for the next part but I’ll never get it done that way.

But Jim O’Connor, who does their “Secret History of…” and “All American Festivals” is certainly enthusiastic but I think he needs to turn it down a bit…

Watching a show on the History-International channel on the creation of real Japanese swords. The Master Swordsmith starts the fire in his forge by quickly beating a small piece of steel until it it glows red and is hot enough to light paper.
Factoids
They are allowed to only make two swords a month.
$25KUS for a sword by a modern Japanese Master Swordsmith…?
Kenjitsu (samurai sword training) is much older and not the same thing as kendo (a post-WW II invention) – or so they say.
Master Swordsmiths don’t polish their own swords (!). There are specialists (Master Polishers?) who spend 10 days to turn the blade of a newly made sword into a work of art.
[Note: This was from an episode of
History International’s show “Almanac”:
The Master: Masamune–Samurai Sword Master. - doesn’t seem to be listed with any future airdates.

Iron Chef America just doesn’t work for me. It just doesn’t have the same vibe. Seems kind of hokey.

I think I’m going to need new tires in February, not March like I planned. The left front is wearing a bit faster than I thought it would. Need to have the front suspension checked out to see if it is causing that… assuming I can afford that kind of work.
And they only have 18.5K miles on them. In 12 and a half months of driving. I was hoping to get another thousand miles out of them. Which at 450-500 miles a month would get me to mid-March.

Time to buy my yearly calendar(s) at the local chain bookstore for 50%. Sure… there isn’t much choice… but all it has to have are numbers and pictures that wouldn’t embarrass me if someone else saw it/them. So… cars. The only BMW calendars I’ve been able to find are a bit pricey and the shipping from Germany is oten more than the calendar itself… and the only exotic car calendar I saw had a single BMW in it (An M5) so… this year… another Corvette calendar. One of the few American sports cars I like.

Why yes, Virginia, I
have added another fanfic to my ‘works-in-progress’ page. Okay, so 10 wips might be a bit much, but 5 of them are really parts of the same series and 3 of them are just collections of short fics.

Two weeks into the new year and I feel like I’m finally getting out of the fanfic writing doldrums that plagued me all Fall. I already have a chunk of writing started for the next installment of my B/W fic “The Two” and the next 6 parts almost mapped out.
