Okay… that was last Thursday… I hope I never have to have a tooth pulled again.
The worst part? The stress. I was VERY stressed – waiting for it to hurt. It didn’t (well… to be honest, my jaw started to hurt approx. an hour later while I was waiting at the pharmacy for the pain killers the dentist prescribed for me.)
The second worst part? The sounds. Really! As the dentist told me – molars don’t come out in one piece. So… although I couldn’t feel anything (and I was slightly out of it thanks to the laughing gas)… I could hear it.
The sound that comes to mind? “Pop rocks” (you know… the candy?)… and a high speed drill. And pressure as the teeth were pulled out.
The pain killers help a lot… the pain has been getting duller each day… but 4 days later… my upper jaw still hurts/aches (though the muscles in my jaw don’t anymore). I had a bad headache on Sunday… not sure if it was because of my jaw or not but the dentist said it looks like I grind my teeth a lot which can cause headaches…
And I can’t really take the pain killers before work…
So, now what?
Hopefully it’ll stop hurting by the end of the week (so I’m not completely miserable after the root canal on the other side on Wednesday…)
The dentist said it’ll take at least 3 months for the bone to grow back/recover and then we can see about implants or whatever…

A show on BBC America – “Masterchef Goes Large”
Like “American idol” (or the original British equivalent) but for cooks.
A couple critics/chefs taste a sample dish by each contestant and give their honest opinion about it. Very cruel… elimination rounds…
FoodTV has a yearly “Pick the next FoodTV Star” show but they aren’t even close to as cruel/fast as this appears to be.

I have 22 Kim Possible episodes sitting on my DVR (You can’t get the whole series on DVD yet… so DVR’ing Toon-Disney is the only way to watch them…)
I should really watch them… but first… let’s figure out the order …
(Wikipedia says there are 65 episodes, not including season 4 – which I believe has started.)

Somebody want to explain the attraction of mySpace to me?
I must be missing something because I wasn’t impressed… (I wanted to check out a musician’s videos there but I had to sign up first (or so mySpace told me…) and I haven’t seen such clunky, ad ridden, over-hyped crap in years while trying to register. Maybe that’s just the ‘free’ version? I never did figure out how to see the video for that musician…)

Season 1 of “Simon and Simon” is now (?) on DVD. Saw it at ‘Best Buy’ today.
What am I doing to stave it off?
Other than buying both the old (Michael Caine) version of “The Italian Job” (It’s a comedy – Benny Hill is in it) and the new one (with Charlize Theron, Donald Sutherland, Seth Green, and that other guy in the Michael Caine role.) ??
The only things they seem to have in common:
- The name of the main character
- They drive around in Austin Mini’s (though different generations of the car – Michael Caine drove the British version (A very tiny car). The new guys get the BMW version which is a bit larger (you could almost fit the old one in the back seat of the new one.))
- It’s about a crime
The old one is supposed to be funny. The new one is an action picture.
Every little bit helps…

Back in early August I bought a PSP game Valkyrie Profile Lenneth – a port of an older Playstation game from Square Enix (the folks who do all the “Final Fantasy” games. It’s one of their standard RPG style games.
Thought I would check it out… even though I’m not a big fan of the whole RPG combat thing. Not bad (a bit primitive but playable) but I haven’t finished it yet.
The one I really wanted to check out is their PS2 ‘sequel’ “Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria” — it just came out. But, I think I’ll wait until the price drops a little (It’s a $49 game right now when most current PS2 games are $39 or less). Maybe for Christmas?
Of course, after buy an Xbox and a couple games for that…. I really shouldn’t buy any other games until I’ve played those…

I’ve decided to wait until at least next summer to buy a PS3. The cost of the gadget + a couple games? Too much for me at this point – especially with upcoming serious dental work starting next week…
But I wanted a next-gen video game console – for assorted reasons…
So…
I now have an X-box 360 (I used up all of my Best Buy Rewards ‘things’ and a coupon which brought the cost down to a more reasonable amount – and 2 games (I saved approximately $60):
“Perfect Dark Zero” (My first FPS (First person Shooter) – ever. It was cheap.
“Test Drive Ultimate” (A racing game – the real point of this exercise)
And I’ll check the used book store for some used games…
(I thought real hard about buying one — they are running a 5-10% failure rate even after over 8 months. Not sure I want to get the extended service plan (in case it dies after the 90 warranty — you have to wonder why such an expensive piece of equipment has only a 90 day warranty.))
The XBox-Live thing looks interesting – not sure yet if it is something I want to pay extra for.
Unlike SONY – Microsoft is releasing game development software to the public… I’ve installed it but haven’t done much with it yet…
Physically — it isn’t as ‘tech sexy’ as my little 2nd generation PS2 or any of my Apple toys. In some respects it is a heavy/ugly critter.
